HYDERABAD: Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Lakshmaiah has admitted that that the efforts of the State government in promoting Telugu have been sloppy compared to the support given to Tamil by the Tamil Nadu government.

Speaking at ‘Telugu Antarjala Sadassu' (Telugu Internet Meet), jointly organised by SliconAndhra and Information Technology Department here on Saturday, the Minister assured that Telugu would be used as a way forward in this age of information revolution. The government would apply for the membership in Uni Code consortium to make Telugu most user-friendly on the ‘jaalagolam' (web).

Further, he assured that efforts would be made to provide all State government departments' websites in Telugu. The organisations and companies that would shoulder the cause would be given incentives and concessions, he announced. The IT Department would act like a bridge between the organisations working for popularising Telugu and the government, he said.

On the progress of IT sector in the State, the Minister stated that the volume of IT and ITES from the State were likely to double by 2015 from the present Rs. 36,000 crore.

Founder-president of SiliconAndhra, a US-based organisation working for promoting Telugu, Kuchibhotla Anand said the meet was organised to plan for the first international Telugu internet meet. Tamils were ahead of other languages in the country in promoting their language and they had recently held the 10 {+t} {+h} international Tamil Internet meet as part of World Tamil Conference held at Coimbatore. He stressed the need for a dedicated and complete search engine in Telugu as the ones developed by Japanese, Chinese and Tamils. The Bhadradri temple in Khammam district illuminated as part of Srirama Navami celebrations. Constructed by great devotee Sri Bhakta Ramadas(Gopana). When he was imprisoned by the Nizam of Hyderabad for using money from the treasury and later was set free by the 'very Lord Rama' himself. He attained 'Mukthi and Moksha' by being given the divine darshan of Rama and Lakshmana. Bhakta Ramadas has scripted innumerable Telugu devotional songs and poems in prise of Lord Rama.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has conveyed his greetings to the people on the eve of Srirama Navami here on Monday. He will leave for Bhadrachalam on Tuesday and participate in the ‘kalyanam' of Lord Rama and His consort Sita. He will present silk clothes and ‘Mutyala talambralu' (pearls) as a tradition on behalf of the State government.

Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu in his message wished that Lord Rama would bestow all round happiness to the people who celebrate the occasion with devotion and gaiety. Legislative Council pro tem Chairman Singam Basava Punnaiah also greeted people on the occasion.

Sri Rama Navami

is dedicated to the memory of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who took birth to destroy the demon King Ravana and to uphold Dharma, or righteousness. The story leading up to the birth of Lord Rama is described in the great epic known as Ramayana. King Dasharath of Ayodhya had no male heir so the sage Vasishta suggested that he perform a ritual fire ceremony. At the end of it, the king received a bowl of payasam , a sweet milk pudding. He gave a portion to each of his three wives -- Kaushalya, Sumithra and Kaikeyi -- and they all conceived within a few days. Rama Navami commemorates the birth of Lord Rama to Queen Kausalya on the ninth day (Navami) of the first month on the Hindu calendar.

This day is also observed as the wedding day of Rama and Sita (an incarnation of Lakshmi). In Hindu temples, a marriage celebration is performed with small murtis of Rama and Sita, and at the end of the day the deities are taken on a procession in the streets. Readings of the sacred Ramayana continue throughout the night. Lord Rama is referred to as Maryada Purushottama, which means the "Ideal Man" or the Lord of Dharma. He is revered for his courage and unbending adherence to duty, an example of the ideal son, husband and King; and is the embodiment of truth and morality.

President / Central Executive Committee

At the past Central Working Committee meeting, the committee had agreed to allow the above proposal,if the Central Executive Committee is also in favour and to further table at forth coming Biennial Delegates Conference.

The objects for which above is proposed is as follows:

i) To receive, collect and administer monies, funds, grants
donations of every kind of education of needy and deserving
students of Telugu origin.

ii) To grant Aids for Education in the Malaysia Universities and other Institutions and schools of Higher Education in Malaysia and elsewhere to needy and deserving Malaysian students of Telugu origin.

iii) To invest the money of the Trust Fund in such investments, commercial ventures or undertaking as may be determined by the Board from time to time.

iv) To organise, carry out and support schemes for the raising money for Trust Fund.

My rational for proposing is timely and hope that will be considered favourably.

As I was quite impressed and then I did proposed "Establishment of Telugu Education Fund" together with the bylaws at one of the TAM Executive Committee which was later approved at 2006 Biennial Delegates' Conference with but to date, sad to say that it has not being registered for the reason that total fund has not reached 1 million. As TAM Mega Event "An Evening with Prime Minister is on 8/10/2010 at PICC Putrajaya and I strong believe most of US of the 1 Malaysia would gathered and after which the very first project that TAM would undertake is the "Education Fund"

Taste of Ugadi gets commercial Traditional values are going for a toss with the concept of market economy entering every sphere of human life. ‘Ugadi Pachchadi', one of the most traditional dishes and an important ingredient of the Telugu new year festivities in every household, is no more an exception. Instand "Ugadi Pachchadi is found at several sweet shop owners along with the various other savouries such as ‘poornalu', ‘garelu', ‘bobbatlu', ‘pulihora', ‘palathalikalu', and ‘chakralu' specially prepared for this festival. “Are selling the ‘pachchadi' for more than a decade and every year and it is an overwhelming response. The ‘pachchadi' is available for Rs.180 per kg. The least quantity one can buy is 250 grams (Rs.45),” People preferred buying ready-made ‘pachchadi' as they were finding it difficult to get the neem flowers, which adds bitterness to the dish. All the rituals before the preparation of the chutney and offered puja to goddess Kanaka Durga and begin the preparation by 4 a.m. on Ugadi day.

‘Teluguiniti adpaduchula veshadaranam' is the highlight of the cultural show

Ethnic flavour:Schoolchildren get a taste of ‘Ugadi pachadi' before taking part in a cultural show in Ongole on Saturday.

ONGOLE: In a bid to create awareness among the generation next on the rich Telugu culture, a school in the town organised celebrations on Saturday to invite the ‘Khara namasamvatsaram', the Telugu New Year beginning on Monday.

“Teluguiniti adpaduchula veshadaranam” by tiny-tots was the highlight of the celebrations organised at the Bashyam Little Champs School here to rejoice Ugadi which falls on “Chaitra Shudhdha Paadyami” day.

A ‘kavi samelan' (literary discussion) was organised with participation by, among others, Ashtavadhani U. Rajini Gangadhar and Prakasam District Rachayuthala Sangam secretary Ponnuri Srinivasulu. Eminent literary persons were honoured on the occasion.

Chittoor district centenary celebration at Tirupathi

Chittoor Collectorate has clarified on Friday that the district centenary celebrations will be kick-started by singing the State anthem ‘Maa Telugu Thalliki' without fail. Single district produced as many as four Chief Ministers.

Two Chief Ministers of the then composite Madras State were from Chittoor, while two others wielded the reins of the present Andhra Pradesh.

The Raja of Panagal, Panaganti Ramarayaningar, was the Chief Minister of Madras Presidency from July 1921 to December 1926.

Though born in Srikalahasti in a Zamindari family, he did his schooling in Madras and mastered both Sanskrit and Dravidian languages with élan.

He got attracted to the Justice Party and served as its president for three years from 1925.

After ascending the throne in July 1921, the Raja worked for the uplift of the oppressed classes. In recognition of his services towards the development of Theagaroya Nagar as a commercial hub in Chennai, the park providing lung space in the otherwise concrete jungle was named as ‘Panagal Park'.

‘Diwan Bahadur' Bollini Munuswamy Naidu, a native of Vepanjeri, accepted the Chief Minister's post in October 1930 and served only for two years, before stepping down due to internal turbulence.

The practising advocate was one of the early members of Justice Party and had even served as its president between 1928 and 1932.

Two Chittoorians served as the Chief Minister after Andhra Pradesh was carved out on linguistic basis. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, hailing from Naravaripalle in Chandragiri constituency, started his political career as a student leader.

He joined the Congress and later the Telugu Desam Party to become a legislator, but what turned his career around was his wedding to N.Bhuvaneswari, daughter of the TDP supremo N.T. Rama Rao. Parting ways with NTR, he went on to become the Chief Minister in 1995 and served up to 2004.

The present incumbent Nallari Kirankumar Reddy, who took up the reins in the midst of chaotic conditions, is the fourth from Chittoor. Though ‘technically' hailing from a family of landlords in Kalikiri mandal, Kiran was born and brought up in Hyderabad.

He was elected from Vayalpad in 1989, 1999 and 2004, but saw a crushing defeat in 1994. With Vayalpad constituency vanishing due to the delimitation exercise, he got elected from Pileru in 2009

Faces problem: Sreeja and her husband Shirish.

Film star-turned politician Chiranjeevi's second daughter, Sreeja, approached the police on Monday alleging that her husband and mother-in-law had been harassing her and demanding additional dowry of Rs. 50 lakh.

The woman police station of the Hyderabad Detective Department registered a case against her husband, Shirish, and mother-in-law under Section 498-A (subjecting woman to cruelty by husband, in-laws) and relevant provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act based on her complaint.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner A.K. Khan said Sreeja alleged that her husband and mother-in-law had been ill-treating and pestering her for additional dowry for quite some time. Sreeja fell in love with Shirish and married him three years ago at Arya Samaj without informing her family members.

The couple was blessed with a daughter. Though initially Sreeja's parents and family members expressed displeasure over the marriage, they eventually patched up.

“Sreeja charged that Shirish harassed her by not sending her to her parents' house to attend a cousin's marriage. She also accused him of demanding additional dowry for past one year,” the Commissioner said.

Sreeja claimed that, unable to bear the harassment, she returned to her parents' house a week ago and lodged the complaint.

In an era of growing film award functions that have become a show of glamour, the awards given out by A.P. Cinegoers' Association stand out.

The awards function held on Sunday was thankfully not dominated by glamour and it was a stage where performers were given more importance. The Andhra Pradesh Cinegoers' Association's 39th and 40th annual film awards presentation programme held at the Lalithakala Thoranam was memorable for the film lovers as they were able to see the stars of different eras on the same stage.

Former Minister K. Rosaiah inaugurated the programme, while Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman T. Subbarami Reddy was the chief guest. Yesteryear actress Gitanjali and Nandamuri Balakrishna made their way on to the stage amidst applause from the gathering. There was a huge roar at the venue when Nandamuri Balakrishna's name was announced for the best actor award for ‘Pandurangadu' film for the year 2008.

Dasari Narayana Rao bagged the best actor award for ‘Mestri' film for the year 2009.Mr. Rosaiah felicitated ace film producer D. Rama Naidu and presented Sobhan Babu Memorial Award to him. Actors Murali Mohan, Gitanjali and Vijay Chander were presented with Life Time Achievement awards.

Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Rosaiah said such programmes should be organised regularly as they boost the confidence of artistes.

T. Subbarami Reddy urged actors and producers to emphasise on quality in movies rather spending crores of rupees on the films.

He further said the Telugu industry was not bagging national awards and it was time for directors and actors to introspect and make films that appeal to the intellectuals and the society too.

Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao ( మండలి వెంకట కృష్ణారావు) shortly known as Mandali Krishna Rao was politician and minister in Andhra Pradesh, India.

The Great Chief minister then, Sri P.V.Narasimha Rao inducted him into the State Cabinet in 1972. He again joined Sri Vengal Rao's Cabinet as the Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs.

He organised the first ever World Telugu Conference in 1975 with encouragement and support of the then Chief Minister,Sri Jalagam Vengal Rao and brought together all Telugus from all over the world.Even today,the Telugus abroad remember him with love and affection.

In 1981,when World Telugu Conference was held in Malaysia he was unable attend. Hence,1983,he visited Malaysia on the special invitation of Malaysia Andhra Sangham to participate in the Ugadi Celebrations and was awarded the title of "Telugu Data".

I was then the newly formed Klang branch chairman and Klang branch had honour to receive him and his Madam together with Sri Narayana Reddy and Sri Lechumana at Klang Perumal Temple for Ugadi Celebrations. I also travelled with them around the country. After which all four them left to Singapore before returning to Andhra Pradesh

In 1984,he visited the U.K. and the U.S.A and renewed his acquaintances with the Telugus there.He was honoured as the "Telugu Velugu" by the Madras Telugu Cultural Academy in 1985.He was again honoured as the "Suthradhari" at the third world conference in 1990 at Mauritius.

Sri Mandali conducted first ever World Telugu Conference in 1975,coming in the wake of distrurbing regional movements that shook the foundations of the integration of the state of Andhra Pradesh.The Conference had been a success beyond all expectations and brought a sense of oneness among all the Telugu speaking people of the world.As the Founder Chairman of the International Telugu Institute, an off-sprong of the conference,he further strengthened the bonds of fraternity.

Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao International Telugu Centre,Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University,Hyderabad

Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is one of the few language based Universities in the Country. It was founded with the objective of serving the cause of the Telugu people both within country and abroad. The University through one of its wings "International Telugu Centre" has been serving Telugu people living outside Andhra Pradesh and in other countries in literarily and cultural aspects.This Centre was appropriately named after Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao who did exemplary services for Telugu language and Culture in fact he was the person who established International Telugu Institute in the year 1975 which was subsequently merged into Telugu University and has been functioning as one of its Centres.

What a sad day for Telugus - 10/03/2011

The former chief minister, N.T. Rama Rao, had erected 33 statues of the famous personalities of Andhra Pradesh in 1986 and the poetic descriptions were written by the noted poet C. Narayana Reddy.

Telangana agitators pulled down of some of the the Greatest Telugu personalilties during the Million March on Thursday (10/3/2011) at Tank Bund and threw them into Hussainsagar. It all started with the demolition of Status of Brahmanaidu’s , Vijayanagar king Srikrishnadevaraya, the Adhikavi Nannaiah and Errapragada, who translated the great epic of Mahabharat into Telugu, saint and composer Annamacharya who penned keertanas for Lord Venkateswara, composer and poet Kshetrayya, and architect of Kuchipudi dance, Mahakavi Gurram Joshua and Siddendra Yogi were pulled down and thrown into the Hussainsagar.

I wish media gives more importance to news that can do more good to mankind and the state as a whole instead of splitting the states. Looking at the news daily makes me sad as I do not see anybody comming forward in India to do good for people around them.

C P Brown Academy

The name of C.P. Brown was chosen for the Academy in celebration of and as a tribute to the contributions of the legendary Charles Philip Brown (1798-1884) for the preservation and promotion of the Telugu language and literature.

The many monumental works created by C P Brown on diverse subjects mark him out as an outstanding and versatile scholar. The Telugu people owe him a debt of gratitude for his service to the language and its dialects. Brown has truly earned a special place for himself in the history of Telugu people.

The Logo

The Academy has adopted a unique logo which has three Lingas, representing the Trilinga Desam, the Land of Telugus. Trilinga appears to have become Telugu, in course of time. The three letters in the centre are taken from a relic of the Amaravathi stupa. The letters, in Brahmi script, are Na, ga, and bu. Scholars opine that Na-ga-bu is a Telugu word, equivalent to Na-ga-mu (meaning serpent) in todays Telugu. This is thought to be the earliest Telugu word, captured in Brahmi Script in an inscription in Prakrit language.

Visakha Samacharam Telugu daily newspaper has invited proposals for nominating noted personalities in various walks of life to its annual Ugadi Puraskars this year.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, Editor of the daily Surampudi Veerabhadra Rao said there will be five awards -- best citizen, best woman, best officer, best people's representative and best NGO. Besides there would be five more awards for best rural people's representative, teacher, doctor, policeman and another from any other sector. “We invite proposals in the form of postcard or letter from admirers of the candidate. A panel of judges will examine the entries and nominate the best for the awards,” he said, adding that the awards were given away in the past 12 years.

VISAKHAPATNAM: A call to popularise Telugu and save it from threat of extinction was made at a rally conducted here on Monday on the occasion of International Mother Tongue Day.

The rally by schoolchildren on the beach road from the statue of NTR to the statue of Puripanda Appalaswamy was organised under the aegis of Loknayak Foundation.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana, HMTV Chief Editor K. Ramachandra Murthy, Andhra Bhoomi Editor M.V.R. Sastry and Lok Nayak Foundation chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad were among those present.

The day is observed as per the call given by UNESCO in memory of students killed in Dhaka while fighting for official language status to Bangla in 1952. Telugu was among 196 languages identified as under threat for extinction in India by UNESCO in its report submitted in 2008. Dr. Lakshmi Prasad called for change in mindset of people to educate their wards in Telugu and demanded compulsory teaching of Telugu from first standard to degree as one of the language papers.

As per UNESCO study, of 6,500 languages in the world, 2,500 were under threat for want of patronage.

UNESCO thinks that promoting recognition and practice of various languages will prevent the threat of their extinction.

Several Indian languages are facing the threat due to growing craze by parents to teach their children in English medium and make them good at communication in English to get good jobs at the cost of their own mother tongues.

Rally to mark International Mother Language Day today

Loknayak Foundation Andhra Pradesh, observed International Mother Language Day on Monday as per the call given by the UNESCO.

A rally with schoolchildren and others marched out from NTR statue to the statue of litterateur Puripanda Appalaswamy on the beach road at 9 a.m.Visakhapatnam. Former MP and foundation chairman Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad told reporters on Sunday that the day was being observed to promote recognition and practice of the world's mother languages. Rich cultural diversity could be achieved by promoting languages.

The day is observed to commemorate the sacrifice of students killed in Bangladesh during agitation in 1952 to demand recognition of Bangla as an official language. The UN General Assembly celebrated International Year of Languages in 2008.

Mr. Lakshmi Prasad, Chairman of AP Hindi Academy and Jana Sikshana Samstha, said UNESCO in its report submitted in 2008 had said that Telugu was among 196 languages under threat of extinction. Of 6,500 languages spoken in the world, 2,500 were under the threat of extinction.

It was unfortunate that Telugu, which had large following and population in the country, had been listed as one among many languages under threat due to Western culture and parents' interest to teach English to their children.

Stating that the mindset of parents must change, he said several people were under the impression that their wards would do well in competitive exams if they speak and write only English ignoring their mother tongue.

Playback singers S.P Balasubrahmanyam and Vani Jayaram paid floral tributes at the statue of legendary playback singer Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao at Naaz Centre, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

They were here to present awards at a music competition held by a private news channel.

The statue was installed by Dasari Cultural Academy president Potturi Ranga Rao.

In an informal chat with media persons, Balasubrahmanyam relived the olden days and lauded the contribution of Ghantasala.

In a voice choked with emotion, he said that no singer in the past, present or future could match the prowess of Ghantasala and advised budding singers not to imitate any one but be themselves.

Earlier, members of the Guntur District Artistes' Association, led by chairman Jetty Mohan Rao, town artistes association led by president Maddu Venkata Swamy felicitated Balasubrahmanyam at the ITC guest house.

They said the singer, who has been awarded with Padma Vibhushan, deserved all the accolades for having dedicated his life to singing

Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao ( ఘంటసాల వెంకటేశ్వర రావు) (1922–1974) was a popular South Indian singer and music composer of Telugu films and many other languages such as Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu and Hindi. He is the recipient of the Padmashree award, India's fourth highest civilian award. For nearly a quarter of a century, he was the voice of Telugu films. He was one of Telugu cinema's first playback singers. He sang in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu and Hindi. He composed music for more than 100 movies. He sang the Bhagavad Gita just before his death in 1974, a rendition which became highly popular. On February 11, 2003, a stamp was released in honor of Ghantasala at Telugu Lalita Kala Toranam, Public Gardens, Hyderabad.

Quickly reeling off many facets of humour including wit, satire, fun, comedy etc. available in Telugu and Hindi literature, the speakers felt that a sprinkle of humour and wit in every day's life would do wonders, and underscored the need to rejuvenate and patronage mother tongues.

The Telugu and Hindi languages were rich in humour, which was one of the most important elements of a life.

However, both languages lack patronage from people.

The parents and students, now, were nursing a false notion that learning one's mother tongue was old-fashioned and mediocre. They may learn English for their survival in the competitive world, but should not neglect their mother tongues, they asserted.

Retired professor and Director of Mysore University R.V.S. Sundaram, who delivered keynote address, said that a sense of humour was not only one of the primary building blocks of an enjoyable life, but also the byproducts of humour lead to a healthier lifestyle.

KAKINADA: Poets and writers from various parts of the State gathered at ‘Andhree Kuteeram' at Pallipalem village near Yanam for the release of ‘Madhusreelu' a compilation of short stories penned by Madhunapantula Venkateswarlu on Sunday. Madhunapantula Foundation organised the programme.

Recent trends in Telugu literature and poetry were discussed at length during the daylong literary deliberations, which were followed by recital of poetry by young poets. Stephen from Netherlands released the book and noted playwright Akella was the chief guest of the book release function. The short stories in the compilation were reviewed in detail.

Poets Vadrevu China Veerabhadrudu, Shikhamani, Addepalli Rammohana Rao, Vadrevu Veeralakshmi Devi and Madhunapantula Satyanarayana Murthy spoke at length about the current trends in poetry and literature and the response from the younger generation to various forms of literature. MLC Gidugu Rudra Raju attended as special guest. A ‘Kavi Sammelanam' was performed under the stewardship of Mr. Addepalli Rammohana Rao in which over 30 poets recited their poems. ‘Vachana Kavitadharana' by P.R.L. Telangana to hold their own world meet on April 4

Telangana writers to boycott Telugu meet

Writers from Telangana will boycott the World Telugu Conference at Tirupati from April 4 to 6 and instead hold their own world meet here on April 4.

This was announced by Telangana writers' forum general secretary J. Gourishankar while addressing a demonstration of the organisation at the Telangana martyrs memorial here on Sunday demanding Statehood to the region.

He said the forum will also stage protests at meetings held by writers from coastal districts here.

Balladeer Gadar said writers right from Potana in yesteryears to present day generation had the conviction to question the righteousness of Constitution as the Centre did not keep its promise to create Telangana State which was made on a Constitutional platform.

A lecturer from Siddipet Nandini Sidda Reddy said writers, artistes and poets from Telangana were like oxygen to the separate Telangana agitation.

Delegation of TANA met Foreign Minister SM Krishna in New York

TANA, TVU students meet S.M. Krishna

A delegation of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) along with 25 students of the Tri Valley University (TVU) met the Foreign Minister, S.M. Krishna in New York on Sunday and sought his help in safeguarding the academic interests of TVU students affected by the scandal.

TANA Secretary, Mohan Nannapaneni and TANA members Vasu Chinna and Jai Kureti helped the students to meet the Foreign Minister where Nirupama Rao, Foreign Secretary of India and Prabhu Dayal, Consul General of India in New York were also present.

Mr. Mohan said the Minister spent almost two hours as students explained the current situation in detail and the hardships they were facing as a result of the closure of TVU. He said the Minister was under the impression that the issue has been resolved. After patiently listening to all the students, he expressed concern at the continued uncertainty and assured the students that the Government of India would request the Department of Homeland Security to expedite the cases of the affected students.

TVU students living in the New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and surrounding areas were part of this meeting. Mr. Mohan said that TANA has requested the Minister to provide paid legal assistance to the students.

TIRUPATI: Parents worried over the increasing influence of English language on their wards heaved a sigh of relief when they found on Saturday that the latter were indeed not so crazy about English.

The event conducted at Sri Venkateswara Oriental College premises saw a slew of competitions conducted by ‘Prerana', a women's organisation in connection with ‘Mother Tongue Day'.

The day saw competitions in drawing, ‘Padya Patanam' (reciting poetic verses), essay writing in Telugu etc. to promote Telugu among children.

Though referred to as ‘Italian of the East' and notwithstanding lofty slogans in praise of the language, Telugu was seldom spoken by the children with the zeal evinced by the previous generation, regretted A. Bhavani, president of ‘Prerana' while explaining the need for holding the competitions.

Over a thousand children from 40 schools took part in the various competitions and expressed their love for Telugu.

“Mother tongue plays an important role in the healthy development of a child,” Secretary S.Bhuvaneswari chipped in.

‘Katha Cheppana?' (story-telling) and ‘Telugu Matladudham' competitions will be held on Sunday, whereby a participant will be made to speak only in Telugu non-stop for two minutes.

These apart, classical/folk dance and fancy dress competitions for children and ‘Vyarthamlo Artham' (wealth from waste) contest, spiritual quiz etc. for women will be held, all centering around Telugu language.

Prizes will be given on ‘Mother Tongue Day' celebrations to be observed at Mahati auditorium on February 21 (Monday).
