Former Minister J.C. Diwakar Reddy believes that division of Andhra Pradesh would lead to disintegration of India as had happened with the USSR.
“There is a danger that formation of Telangana will lead to more such demands for new States and will ultimately end up disintegrating the country,” the Congress MLA from Tadipatri in Anantapur district said speaking at the media point on the Assembly premises on Thursday.
All regions would progress better only if the State was united, Mr. Diwakar Reddy said adding that it would be much better if all the existing States in the country were cancelled and the entire country was made into one administrative unit.
Asked about his demand in the past of merging Anantapur district with Bellary (Karnataka), the Congress MLA said it was only for the sake of argument and he did not mean it.
However, all water woes of Anantapur would be solved if it would be a part of Bellary, he admitted.
Mr. Diwakar Reddy maintained that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was leaving nothing to chance in stopping the State bifurcation.
He blamed the weak leadership of the Congress partyfor the present crisis.
Asked about Seemandhra Congress leaders’ political future, the former Minister said: “We don’t know where to go.”

Other Important Temple to visit in Andhra Pradesh

Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devalayam, Visakhapatnam

Simhachalam, the oldest temples in the world goes back to 11th century. The word Simhachalam means the hill of the lion. It is the hill of the great Nara-Simha, the forth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu descended on Simhachalam Mountain to save Prahladaha devotee, who was about to be dropped in the sea from the mountain top.

Simhachalam, the temple that is situated in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India is one of the oldest temples in the world. Simhachalam which rises to about 800feet above sea level is at a distance of sixteen kilometers to the north of Visakhapatnam. It is approachable both from Simhachalam Railway Station on the South Eastern Railway which is about four kilometers from this place and also by means of motarable road from Visakhapatnam Town where from public buses ply regularly.

Near the top of the north side of the hill, in a wooden hallow surrounded by a wide circle of higher ground resembling an amphetheatre, is the temple of Narasimha which gives the hill its name. This is the most famous, richest and the best sculptured shrine of the Northern Circars and the Rajahs of Vizianagaram, who have endowed to it with lands etc., are its hereditary trustees for the last two centuries. It has been brought under the purview of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act under a special scheme.

The legend goes that Jaya and Vijaya the gate keepers of the celestial abode of Lord Vishnu were cursed to be born as demons by the Lord for the disrespect they showed to some visiting sages. They were born as Hiranyakasipu and Kiranyasha to the sage Kasyapa and grew into mighty demon lords bent upon disturbing the peace of the world. The younger of the two, Hiranyaksha, seized the earth and carried it to another region. Lord Vishnu delivered the earth from the clutches of the demon by assuming the Boar incarnation (Varaha Avatara) aggrieved by the death of his brother, Hiranyakaspipu wanted to avenge the death of his brother. He added to his might the power of penance and began to punish the gods and sages, the devotees of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu was once again prevailed upon to rescue the world from the menace of this demon. Then the Lord made one of his servants, Sumukha, to be born as a son of Hiranyakasipu. This son of Hiranyakasipu, named Prahlada, became a devotee of Vishnu even his birth and thus brought upon himself the wrath of his father. Hiranyakasipu tried tomend the ways of his erring son, but when he found him to be adamant, made him undergo several hardships. He made the elephants trample over him and set poisonous snakes against him. Prahlada protected as he was diving grace, stood firm. Hiranyakasipu, as a lost resort, asked his events to throw his son into the sea and place a mountain over him.

His servants chose to drop Prahlada in the sea near the mount Simhadri with a view to place the mountain over him. But before they could complete their act Lord Narauyana rescued him by jumping over the hill and lifting up Prahalada from the sea. Simhadri is thus the place where the Lord rescued Prahlada. The form of Varaaha Narasimha was assumed by him, then at the prayer of his devotee Prahlada, who wanted to see both the aspects of the Lord, the one by which he had already killed Hiranyakasha and the other by which he killed Hiranyakasipu.

According to the Sthalapurana, Prahlada was the first person to construct a temple round the Deity. He accomplished this after his father's death at the hands of Narasimha. But at the end of that life-cycle (Krita Yuga), the temple was neglected and began to decay. Even the Deity was not taken care of and crests of earth slowly gathered round the image. But, at the beginning of another life cycle, the Lord once again was discovered by pururava of the Lunar Dynasty.

Pururava, with his spouse Urvasi, riding on an aerial chariot over the hill of the South was drown to the Simhachalam by a mysterious power. He discovered the Lord on hill lying imbedded in crests of earth. He cleared the earth among the image of the Lord. The he was addressed by the Akasavani not to expose the image but cover it with sandal paste. It also added that the Lord should be worshipped in this form, and only once in a year, on the third day in the month of Vysakaha his Nijaswarupa can be revealed. Acting under the instructions of Akasavani the kind applied over the image of an amount of sandal wood paste which is equal to the earth he had removed worshipped the deity and built the temple once again around the image. The temple continued to flourish eversince. Thus Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is the presiding Deity of Mountain Kilas of Simhachalam

The temple is visited by pilgrims in large number particularly during Saturdays and Sundays and from April to June and the pilgrimage during other seasons is not less. The important festivals are the annual Kalyanam, which takes on Chaitra Suddha Ekadasi i.e., in the month of March/April and Chandana Yatra on the third day of Vysakhamasam i.e., in the month of April/May.

Who will protect Telugu language and culture: Mandali Buddha Prasad

Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission Chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad. Photo: Nagara Gopal
Commission Chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad.

The proposed division of Andhra Pradesh is against the fundamental ideology of the Congress party, said the Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission Chairman.

The proposed division of Andhra Pradesh, the first State to be carved out on a linguistic basis, is against the fundamental ideology of the Congress party, Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission Chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad has said.
Talking to The Hindu here on Thursday, Mr Buddha Prasad said that a Congress party leader conceived the formation of states on linguistic basis as early as 1924. The Congress party endorsed the decision to form states on the linguistic basis in 1934. In 1946 the party decided that Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka would be formed on linguistic basis and the same was put in its election manifesto.
In 1948 the Constituent Assembly appointed the Dhar Commission to examine the issue of forming linguistic states, but the commission did not recommend linguistic states.
The Congress Party then appointed a three-member committee with Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhai Patel and Pattabhi Seetharamaiah to look into the matter. The committee, popularly called the JVP Committee, recommended the formation of Andhra Pradesh with undisputed Telugu areas. After that other states in South India were also formed on the linguistic basis.
The language of all the states in North India was Hindi and therefore it was made the national language. The proposed division of a State formed on linguistic basis had several ramifications on the development and protection of the culture and language. The Central Government through several programmes had protected and promoted Hindi. The Andhra Pradesh Government was doing the same for Telugu.
While six crore Telugus live in the State another two crore live in other States and other countries. The Andhra Pradesh government was conducting conferences and programmes till now. Who will do this in future? Unless steps were taken to protect and promote language they perish. History was full of examples, he said.
Mr. Buddha Prasad recalled how he entered politics in the peak of the Jai Andhra Movement when his father Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao was one of the three Ministers who opposed the division of the State.
His family was socially boycotted for that and his father was asked to stay in Hyderabad fearing attacks by Jai Andhra movement activists.

Still a pending issues to the Telugus of Malaysia

Pending Telugu Issues to the PM of Malaysia

PENDING ISSUES TO THE ATTENTION of PRIME MINSITER OF MALAYSIA

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak wished the Telugu community in Malaysia an auspicious start to our new year for this year. He further added that this year's celebration will strengthen ties not only among the Telugus but also among all races as and "As a caring government, we'll continue to support efforts to improve the welfare of the Telugu community so that they, too, will be able to enjoy the prosperity.
And it is only right and fair that we Malaysian Telugus/ 30 branches of Telugu Association branches around the country to bring to the attention of the our beloved Prime Minister of Malaysia of the Pending Telugu main issues as follows:-

Telugu language is not offered in PMR or SPM examinations?

To date, there are about 1050 students who are following POL Telugu classes at some of the government schools such as at Bagan Datoh, Sungai Sumun,Hutan Melintang,Teluk Intan, Klang, Shah Alam, Sunway, Puchong, Batu Caves, Rawang Sitiawan, Bahau, Kulim and Sungai Petani which totals to about 35 classes. But what is saddened and disappointed is, ever since 1993 Telugu language is not being offered any more as an optional subject in PMR and SPM examinations.

No Telugu channel for malaysian Telugus?
The private pay channel “ASTRO” in our country has not been considerate to air enough programmes for the Telugu community. The least they could have done is to at least allocate five to eight hours Telugu programmes every day and upgrade the Telugu serials and have if they had valued us, the Telugu community, as their customers too. or we being the minority group and are not deemed to be heard. Telugu community subscribers were disappointed with the time allocated for them over ASTRO.

Or, allow the approval for the usage of satellite dishes as there are lot satellite dishes around the country especially in the Perak,Kedah,Perlis,Johor and East Malaysia.
Telugus should not be sidelined in the field of mother -tongue entertainment.
Telugu Senator ?
Government to consider appointing a senator from our community to highlight in Parliament the problems being faced by our community.

Telugu programmes over RTM?
For additional time for the Telugu community on Minnal FM, the Indian based radio programme on RTM.

‘Attempting the Civil exam in Telugu not advisable’

With the UPSC bringing about far-reaching changes to the pattern of the Civil Services Main examination, the panel of experts at an interactive session on the Civil Services Main examination, organised by The Hindu and Hyderabad Study Circle, answered queries of aspirants. Excerpts follow:
How does one prepare for exam, now that the pattern has changed?
Candidates can follow the curriculum development reports published by the University Grants Commission. They are available on the UGC website; pick a topic and study. UPSC requires candidates to understand the spirit and fundamentals of a subject.
I am a B. Tech with a Telugu-medium background. Which subject would be an ideal optional for me?
If you read Telugu papers or if you are good at Telugu literature, it is preferable to avoid technical subjects.
It is always best to pick subjects in which you are comfortable. Reading the newspaper daily will help a lot.
What abilities do interviewers look for during interviews?
There are several parameters — mental ability, alertness, grasping power, trainability, integrity. These details are available in the mains prospectus.
How does one deal with the Ethics paper?
The second Administrative Reforms Commission report on ethics is a good resource. It is available on the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) website.
Will attempting the exam in the Telugu-medium be a disadvantage, given the lack of resources?
There aren’t many resources available in Telugu. Unless candidates have a command over the language, the choice of Telugu-medium is not advisable. It is good to read and practice in Telugu literature, if a candidate decides to write in Telugu.
Can the interview happen in a regional language?
There is an option to take the interview in the language of one's choice. However, it is not advisable as the translator’s role becomes important. There is a possibility of the translator being unable to convey the exact message. It is best to learn English and attend interviews in English.
Can you provide us some tips for the essay paper?
There are no shortcuts. Identify topics from current contexts and practice accordingly. Generally, questions are statement-oriented and candidates do not have to defend or oppose the proposition. They will have to provide both sides of the coin.
How relevant is job experience?
There is no weightage for job experience.
I am a B.Tech. and wish to join the Indian Engineering Service. Please give me some tips.
Though there are many engineering colleges in the State, not many students are willing to join the IES. There are four to five disciplines in the IES. Choose the one which you are comfortable in. Prospects are good.
There are some common topics in the Optional subject and General Studies. Should there be any difference in answering them?
In General Studies, as the name suggests, the approach will have to be a general one. For the Optional paper, candidates will have to present their command over the topic here.
There is talk that the government plans to introduce legal services shortly. Could you provide some insight into the same?
There is a proposal but not many details are available as of now. There are alternatives though. Judicial and corporate services are good prospects, if one is interested.

Telugu industry to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema

Hyderabad, May 22 : The Telugu film industry wants to highlight its contribution to Indian cinema and will kickstart the centenary celebrations here soon amongst the presence of the entire fraternity.
"We have never highlighted how much has Telugu industry contributed to Indian cinema. We want to showcase the achievements of some of our luminaries who have made us proud over the years. The celebrations will start soon and we have also requested the support of the state government," Thammareddy Bharadwaja, president, Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce, told IANS.

"Members of our industry such as N.T. Rama Rao, S.V. Ranga Rao, Dasari Narayana Rao, Raghupathi Venkaiah and Vijayanirmala have brought laurels to our industry, but rarely do people know about them or their achievements. It is our responsibility to bring them to limelight," he added.

He said Telugu industry has contributed as much any other to Indian cinema.

"Indian cinema is not only Bollywood or any other industry for that matter because every industry has contributed to it equally. Nobody knows of actors who were part of Telugu cinema in the 1940s and 1950s," he said.

Talking about the celebrations, he said: "We wouldn't have any song and dance type of celebration, but have plans for something bigger. We also want to show the rich heritage of Telugu cinema through exhibition.

"It will be open to public and those interested can contribute to the exhibition with whatever they posses - it could be posters, photographs and personal memorabilia," Bharadwaja said.

As part of the celebrations, the chamber also plans to honour theatre as well.

"Theatre has had a great impact on Telugu cinema over the years. We have plans to honor 130-year old Surabhi Theatre Group that has given this industry so many legendary actors. We have planned for a theatre festival staring today (Wednesday)," he said

The Surabhi Theatre Festival will go on till May 27.
