Thyagaraja Utsavams from Apr 27: TTD EO

Tirupati, Apr 21: The 245th Birth Anniversary celebrations of great musician-composer-saint poet Sri Thyagaraja Swamy will be observed at both the temple towns of Tirumala and Tirupati on April 27 and 28 respectively said Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer LV Subramanyam.


While reviewing with the officials in TTD Administrative building at here today on various issues, the TTD EO said Saint Thyagaraja Swamy, who was popularly called Nada Brahma, was a prolific composer and highly influential in the development of the South Indian Classical Music tradition, a TTD release said here today.

He was pride of Telugus though he was born in Tamil Nadu and composed thousands of devotional compositions similar to Saint Poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya.

"It becomes our responsibility to honour and pay tributes to this great soul who immortalised the language of Telugu with his beautiful musical compositions wiping off the language barriers", the EO added. The"Ghana Raga Pancharatna Brindagana"-community singing of the famous Pancharathna Kritis penned by Sri Thyagaraja-- will be performed at Tirumala on April 27 at 1800 hrs on Kalyana Vedika while in Tirupati either at Sri Kodandaramaswamy pushkarini or at Sri Kodandaramaswamy Temple on April 28 at 1800 hrs", the EO maintained.
