World Telugu Writers Meet on from Aug 13
Vijayawada Aug 11 : The three-day second World Telugu Writers Conference to be held here from August 13 will be attended by over 1,000 Telugu writers, poets and scholars from across the world.
Informing this to the press here today, state Hindi Academy Chairman and noted writer yarlagadda lakshmi Prasad said Jnanpith and Padmabhushan Awardee and Cine Lyricist C Narayana Reddy would inaugurate the first day session at Tummalapalli auditorium.
Media baron and Eenadu group chairman Ramoji Rao would be the chief guest.
Several noted writers including Ms Malathi Chandoor, Urdu Poet and Iqbal Award recipient Sheen Kalf Nijam would participate.
Chief editors of media organisations would also attend the meet.
The conference is being organised jointly by the Krishna District Telugu Writers Association and Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Literary Academy of New Delhi.
Lamenting on the decline of Telugu, he said there was a need to make Telugu as one of the mandatory subjects in all the schools in the state on the lines of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
