Persatuan Telugu Ikrar Taat Setia

Description: http://n9kini.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/DSC_01072.jpg
Hadir sama, Datuk Dr. Achaiah Kumar Rao, Presiden Kebangsaan Pertubuhan Telugu Malaysia, Dato’ VS Moga, Ahli Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri, Dato’ T. Rajagopalu, Pengerusi Badan Perhubungan MIC Negeri Sembilan, Dato’ Shamsulkahar Hj Mad Deli, ADUN Serting merangkap Ahli Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri dan  Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hj Ahmad, ADUN Lui.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy releasing the logo of the fourth World Telugu Conference, at his Camp Office in Hyderabad, on Tuesday. Photo: Special Arrangement

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday released the logo and launched the website of the fourth World Telugu Conference being organised at Tirupati on December 27, 28 and 29.The logo is the same as the one designed for the first conference held in Hyderabad in 1975. www.worldteluguconference.com is an interactive website that not only provides a perspective about the previous conferences held in Hyderabad, Malaysia and Mauritius but also useful details about the upcoming event besides seeking suggestions on how best the event could be conducted.

‘FUNDS NO CONSTRAINT’
At an interaction with senior journalists and officials at his Camp Office, Mr. Reddy said funds would not be a constraint for organising the conference as his government was willing to bear the entire expenditure. He cautioned officials to make proper estimates of the delegates and others likely to attend the conference as the turnout may exceed expectations, considering that Tirupati would attract a heavy pilgrim influx at that time. The Chief Minister indicated that he would convene a meeting of people’s representatives of Chittoor district to seek their cooperation for the success of the conference
FEARS ALLAYED
Minister for Culture Vatti Vasanth Kumar said a sum of Rs. 5 crore out Rs. 25 crore sanctioned by the government had already been released. He sought to allay the apprehensions that regional or class disparities, if not addressed properly, would lead to a backlash. About 115 cultural organisations had been consulted on these issues and they had promised their full support.K. V. Ramanachari, Advisor to Government, Culture, earlier explained the salient features of the website. Members of the Cabinet sub-committee constituted to oversee arrangements for the conference, were present.

World's Richest Hindu Temple

President of India Sree Mukherjee prays at Tirumala temple

Tirupati, Sep 9

President Pranab Mukherjee Sunday prayed at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, atop Tirumala Hills in this pilgrim town of Andhra Pradesh.

Mukherjee, who is visiting the temple for the first time after assuming the highest office, had 'darshan' early Sunday. After a traditional welcome by the temple authorities, he offered prayers.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which manages the affairs of the world's richest Hindu temple, had made arrangements for the president's visit. The temple town is about 630 km from capital Hyderabad.

After the 'darshan', the president sought blessings of the head priests at Sriranganayaka mandapam. The priests also presented 'prasadam' and mementoes.

Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, TTD chairman Bapi Raju and other top officials accompanied Mukherjee.

The president later inaugurated 'Nandakam', a guest house built at a cost of Rs.35.6 crore by TTD. The building will provide accommodation to 2,000 pilgrims.

Mukherjee, who arrived here Saturday evening and spent the night at Padmavati guest house, also visited Sri Venkateswara Vedapatasala at Dharmagiri, two km from Tirumala and gave away medals and certificates to students of a Vedic school.

Later, Mukherjee visited Tiruchanur and offered prayers at Sri Padmavathi temple, on the outskirts of Tirupati. A pilgrimage to Tirupati is considered incomplete without a visit to this temple.

Trust says it respects Sai Baba's will

A day after the will of spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba surfaced, the trust managing his vast empire said it would respect its provisions and would continue to take his mission forward.

Sathya Sai Central Trust member and Sai Baba's nephew R.J. Ratnakar told some Telugu television channels in the pilgrim town of Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district that he respected the deed as it carried the signature of the late spiritual leader.

He clarified that after Sai Baba passed away last year, the trust had been trying to continue the charity works. Ratnakar said every paisa would be used for the trust activities.

The deed document of 1967 and registered in Mumbai was made public Sunday, allegedly by Sai Baba's caretaker Satyajit Salian.

The deed was signed by two witnesses, including Indulal Shah, one of the trustees. The document was reportedly presented during a meeting of the trust in July this year.

At a press conference last year, the trust members had clarified that Sai Baba left no will.

With Salian making the will public, it has triggered a debate in Puttaparthi. After Sai Baba's demise, Satyajit was expected to be included in the trust but he was not taken on board.

The spiritual guru made it clear in the deed that contributions received from devotees belonged to the trust and should solely be used for charity.

"I declare that I left parents permanently and adopted holy order with no intention to revert back. I relinquished all my right title and interest in family property, moveable or immoveable, whatsoever and wherever they may be, and I do not own and possess personal property or wealth or estate.

"Whatever is given to me is under my management, supervision and control as a trustee to be used for public charitable purposes. This declaration, I am making so (that) nobody can claim, under or through me, in the family properties if any," Sai Baba said in the deed, which was made when he was 44.

Sai Baba passed away at the age of 85 last year following prolonged illness.

After his death, there were reports of a conflict between some family members and the trust over the control of the trust assets said to be worth Rs.40,000 crore.

The trust, which has presence in over 150 countries, runs educational institutions, hospitals and drinking water supply projects. (IANS)

Telugu film 'Vanaja' housefull at Locarno fest

By Arpana, Locarno (Switzerland), Aug 6 : After travelling to 32 film festivals, Telugu film "Vanaja", a tale of a 15-year-old girl's dream of becoming a world class Kuchipudi dancer, was screened here Saturday and went housefull. Director Rajneesh Domapalli says he may soon have it released in theatres in India.

"I made 'Vanaja' in 2005 as my master thesis at the Columbia University. My film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and in 2007 it won the best debut award at the Berlin Film Fest. I released the film in theatres in the US and South Africa and I will soon release it in India," Domapalli told IANS.

Set in rural Andhra Pradesh of the 1960s, the film that explores the chasm that divides classes as a young girl struggles to come of age was screened in the Open Doors section at the ongoing 64th Locarno International Film Festival.

In the film, Vanaja (Mamatha Bhukya), daughter of a low caste fisherman who is struggling to make ends meet, goes to work in the house of the local landlady, Rama Devi (Urmila Dammannagari), in hopes of learning Kuchipudi dance while earning her keep.

How her dreams are left unfulfilled after the arrival of her employer's son is told in a very subtle but effective manner by the director who says he isn't trying to give any message through the film.

"I have woven the threads into the story - gender issue, caste system and clash of old and modern. My film also tells what happens when boundaries that should not be crossed are crossed," said Domapalli who has made it with non-actors whom he handpicked from the middle class families.

"I took people from middle class families. They had acting training for one to two years. The lead didn't know Kuchipudi dance and she had to learn it from scratch," said the director who has managed to extract the best from his cast.

All the actors look natural on screen and their performances make it an interesting watch.

The director describes it as a low budget film and added: "For art house film making inroads in India takes going up against commercial establishments and quite a lot of money."

His next will be "Avani", but before making the film he will release it as a novel and use the money earned from its sales in the making of the movie.

"'Avani's' screenplay is over and bits of novel have also been written. I am writing another novel on young adult fantasy that uses a 14-year-old as protagonist and is set across three worlds." (IANS -Posted on / )
